Tonight's Stinker: First Man Into Space (1959)

Tonight's Stinker First Man Into Space (1959) https://youtu.be/Fp_9o4AIDqM?si=Y3DcQSQdhVeD0mtV A repurposed Bell X-1 (in other words, stock footage) is shot off into space... The airbase commander says it's reached it's limit & should turn around, but the pilot is his reckless younger brother, who pushes the plane AND himself slightly beyond.... He manages to get back to Earth, but wrecks the plane.... Instead of returning to the airbase, he goes to see his girlfriend, which puts him in deep doo-doo with his already irate older brother, but Washington gives him another chance.... The pilot disobeys orders again, the plane runs into a cloud of space dust.... The plane returns to earth with no pilot.... Then about halfway through the movie, cattle, people & a blood bank are attacked by a creature that breathes like Darth Vader.... Get plodding at times in spite of the runtime, the pilots personality & the premise make for some real headscratchers......

Tonight's Stinker: Rocket Attack U.S.A.(1960)

Tonight's Stinker Rocket Attack U.S.A.(1960) https://youtu.be/rysX2mJmveA?si=UED4GmPkLAguw4IF The Soviets have launched a new Sputnik, so the U.S. military sends a spy to Moscow to see what's up.... Upon arrival, he learns his contact is a woman who's started an affaire with a top ranking Soviet minister, and that they have all the research data they need to start work on an ICBM.... Meanwhile, American attempts to get a missile up fail, so the only option is for the American spy to sabotage the Russian missile.... Cold war & space race exploitation.... About an hour, with mostly a narrator talking over stock footage... The acting is mostly stiff, with most of the scenes over dubbed, while some recite their lines as if they only just saw the script, a second ago..... Meanders for the first half, then switches directions.....

Tonight's (other) Stinker: The Abominable Snowman (1957)

Tonight's (other) Stinker The Abominable Snowman (1957) https://youtu.be/-ZrE6cqOXJ4?si=LO_jDAMn23r8gN0B Peter Cushing is a botanist staying at a Himalayan monastery looking to join an American party lead by Forrest Tucker looking for the Yeti, much to his wife's chagrin.... Along the way, Cushing is offended to learn that Tucker wants to capture or kill it.... The American's impatience & recklessness quickly puts them all in danger, & it later turns out he's been involved in scandalous hoaxes before.... Incredibly talky, but watchable, with an adequate amount of suspense.....

Tonight's (first) Stinker: Man Beast (1956)

Tonight's (first) Stinker Man Beast (1956) https://youtu.be/rifN7Y7d1y0?si=kk3OC1kvobX4FDJD A woman her boyfriend show up in the Himalayas looking for her brother.... (She happened to bring a sleeveless dress with her....) An American guide offers to take them & catch up to a previous party.... They find them, & learn their Swiss guide is evil with a really goofy secret.... Lots of footage of the cast climbing cliffs, glaciers & trudging through waste deep snow, as well as pretty video postcards... The reveals tend to come at really odd times in a way that's laughable, & I had loads of fun riffing on this one!!! Includes "rediscovered" footage that's horrible redubbed & captioned...

Tonight's Stinker: Fear and Desire (1952)

Tonight's Stinker Fear and Desire (1952) https://youtu.be/CmL6B57tjZE?si=EUx8uTQu-fbWkew5 Starts with a confusing narration about how none it is real.... Four soldiers are trapped behind enemy lines..... They need to walk to a river & build a raft, but before they can float away, things go sideways.... The men bicker, the leader pontificates, they kill some enemy soldiers for their guns & kidnap a local girl, & two of the men lose it... The page mentioned Stanley Kubrick, so I thought it was worth a try.... Artsy & confusing, lots of corny references to The Tempest... Plenty of close-ups of people's faces while someone else is talking, kinda like in Beast Of The Yucca Flats...
