Tonight's Stinker Cosmic Journey (1936) https://youtu.be/hDhJKzuOb2w?si=u8MWbTg56yTKXTkR Soviet era silent movie, with captions & creepy techno music & sound effects.... A scientist has built a moon rocket.... Meanwhile, a fellow scientist tries to stop him, not out of spite, but because all his lab animals keep coming back dead, & he's worried about losing someone so prominent.... The only solution is to steal the ship, along with his assistant & a schoolboy.... But once on the moon, a mechanical failure & navigational error could leave them stranded.... Fairly decent little fantasy for the first half, but then gets a bit plodding.... The sets, props, scale models & animated sequences are pretty cool...

One of the characters narrates, starting with a back story about how mankind found technology from an extinct alien race, & learned to use it.... So anyway, these three siblings find a planet with more of this tech, but hafta split when the realize it orbits a ball of radiation, & lose the coordinates.... A year later, all three of them are in dire straits, & things go sideways one night... The next day, they get an offer from a corporate raider who makes them an offer they can't refuse.... They find the planet again, but in what they find out is a stolen ship... And the owners have tracked the ship & plan to beat them to the claim... The acting is pretty stiff at first, but gets better, & the pacing is pretty decent... For low budget shot on video, I found it to be a pretty fun little gem...

The south is about to send the first rocket to Mars.... As they're getting ready to leave, a north spaceship request to dock at their space station for repairs.... After making the repairs, scientific idealism kicks in, & someone reveals they're going to Mars.... the northerners think they can beat the south, & take off without a plan.... Things go haywire.... Whoever wrote the script suggests that the sun is between earth & mars.... At some points, the dubbing is so bad, that words come out while nobody's lips are moving, & it's kinda obvious at times that a label has been placed over the red star on the ships....
